What Is Misdirection?
Misdirection is when a viewer's attention is directed away from an action that may reveal the method of the effect. Essentially, Misdirection really isn't Misdirection at all. It's "direction" because I'm actually directing your attention where it needs to be. Because it is so widely known by this term, it should remain being called misdirection. Without misdirection the magic impact weakens. Misdirection is simply a piece to the puzzle that completes the trick. A brief example as to why Misdirection works is linked to neoroscience. A humans brain is hardwired to react and to think in a certain way that affects our attention. Basically, a magician knows how people react and what gets their attention which enables them to take advantage of the situation.
